First gen Liberty has same 4x4 system as XJ, the IFS is better on road and you can still a modest lift.

Fair question but d oesn’t the KJ manual have the same transmission that you don’t like in your current Jeep? In that case I’m in camp XJ. Solid axles for the win!

That is a terrifying question, thanks for the cautionary note. I just checked, and there were three different manual transmissions offered, which is a bit crazy. Only one was the dreaded NSG370.
